Next time you stagger down into a New York City subway station after a night of heavy drinking - think again.
Researchers at Columbia University said nearly half all victims of accidental subway-related fatalities in New York City between 1990 and 2003 were drunk.
The Mailman School of Public Health report said unintentional deaths accounted for 47.2 percent of all subway deaths. Suicides accounted for 51.3 percent and homicides just 1.5 percent.
A New York City Transit spokesman said the agency is reviewing the report and will consider a public information campaign.
