The first weekend of fall feels more like summer across the tri-state, with some areas setting record highs on Sunday.

Central Park recorded a high of 91 degrees, breaking the old record of 89 set in 1959, according to the National Weather Service.

The temperature in Islip set a new record high of 89 degrees, the weather service said. The previous high of 83 was set in 2009.

John F. Kennedy airport recorded a high of 88 degrees, tying the previous high for the day, the NWS said.

The temps are expected to gradually lower through the middle of the week but stay above normal, according to Storm Team 4.

More typical fall weather may come to the region next weekend.
