Authorities have released a sketch of the man police say tried to rape an 8-year-old girl as she was walking into her apartment building in the Bronx last weekend.
The girl was walking into her building at about 5:30 p.m. Saturday when a man approached her from behind, covered her mouth and restrained her while putting his hand down her pants, police said.
The girl began to scream, prompting the suspect to run away.
The girl was taken to a local hospital, where she was treated and released.
