Rally to End Ground Zero Inaction

Thousands of unionized workers are expected to rally today in an effort to increase pressure on the Port Authority and the World Trade Center site developer to end a stalemate over the remaining reconstruction at ground zero.

Elected officials are also slated to attend Tuesday's noon rally at 7 World Trade Center Park.

Construction is under way on 1 World Trade Center, a memorial, and a transit hub. But the building of other planned towers has stalled.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey controls the property, and is battling over financing of the planned towers with site developer Larry Silverstein.

An arbitration panel has given both sides until Friday to come up with a solution to the dispute.

Construction of the towers at the site could create thousands of jobs.
