Rain will dampen the tri-state this weekend as sunshine in the morning hours of Friday and Saturday will give way to clouds and possible thunderstorms in the evening hours, Storm Team 4 reported.
The bulk of Friday morning will remain dry, until showers and potential thunderstorms develop in the region in the afternoon. The heaviest storms will form between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m., but skies will clear later in the evening, according to Storm Team 4.
The NBC 4 New York Health and Fitness Expo will go on this weekend rain or shine. The annual event at MetLife Stadium includes autograph sessions with Giants players and our reporters and anchors, as well as fitness classes and healthy cooking demos.
The clear skies will continue into Saturday morning, but rain showers and thunderstorms will likely move into the region in the late afternoon and early evening. Temperatures will reach the 70s in the morning and early afternoon, but a cold front will likely move in Saturday evening, dropping temperatures into the 40s.
A break from the rain will likely come Sunday, but an occasional shower cannot be ruled out, especially north and west of the city. High temperatures will only reach the low 60s, which is about 10 degrees below normal for this time of year, Storm Team 4 said.
Today will feature sunshine mixed with some high clouds, more clouds south of the city but temperatures will warm nicely into the middle 70s. Another nice one tomorrow with sun mixing with increasing clouds later in the day and at night with highs again the 70s.
Friday turns unsettled with a cold front approaching. A couple of light showers are possible in the morning but a round of heavier showers and thunderstorms is possible from midafternoon into the evening.
Saturday will start out dry but another fast moving front could trigger a round of showers in the late afternoon into the early evening. A gusty northwest wind will follow and while things will dry out Saturday night and Sunday it will be a bit chilly for May. Next week starts out dry with highs in the 60s.
