Quinn Honored by Irish-American Newspaper

Quinn praised for hard work, "inclusiveness"

The nation’s oldest and largest Irish-American newspaper has honored New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn as its “American of the year” for “taking charge of a seemingly endless list of issues and concerns.”

The Irish Echo, which is based in New York City, said Wednesday that Quinn has “blazed a trail through New York City politics and beyond.”

“Quinn is also familiar to people in Ireland. She has visited the land of her ancestors on more than one occasion, most recently in the spring of this year for the Northern Ireland investment conference, and has taken her message of inclusiveness, New York style, to all political corners of Northern Ireland,” the paper said.
