A man leaving a karaoke bar in Queens was brutally executed as he was about to get into the back of a car early Tuesday, and police are searching for his killer.
Police said the victim, 31-year-old Xin Gu of Long Island City, had just walked out of a karaoke bar on Fowler Street in Flushing at around 2:30 a.m. He was about to get into the back of an SUV that rolled up when a masked man in a black hooded puffy coat ran up on him from behind and shot him in the head, surveillance video shows.
Gu was taken to New York-Presbyterian Hospital in Queens, where he was pronounced dead.
Police say they don't believe it was an attempted robbery; they think Gu was targeted, but the motive remains unclear.
