Authorities raided a Queens day care center early Thursday, seizing marijuana and ecstasy, along with $2,500 in cash, police say.
Police arrested 25-year-old Michael Gomez and 23-year-old Selestino Rodriguez in the 5 a.m. raid at the day care on 88th Avenue in Woodhaven.
Gomez allegedly ran a drug operation in the basement of the same building where his father runs a day care, My Precious Moments. Police said officers made numerous undercover drug buys before the raid.
Authorities said it appears Gomez's father had no idea what was happening with his son.
The day care owner has not been arrested or charged with any crime, but the allegation that criminal activity was happening so close to children left many neighbors unsettled.
The day care was closed until at least Friday. No one at the home or center had any comment Thursday.
Gomez was arraigned Friday. Information on an attorney for him wasn't immediately available.
