Westchester Psychiatrist Charged With Selling Prescriptions

Dr. Marvin L. Korn was arraigned Thursday on three counts of criminal sale of a controlled substance

A suburban New York psychiatrist has been charged with illegally selling prescriptions to medications including the painkiller Oxycontin and the anti-anxiety drug Valium.

The Westchester County district attorney's office says Dr. Marvin L. Korn was arraigned Thursday on three counts of criminal sale of a controlled substance.

The 61-year-old Korn, of Larchmont, was arrested after a six-month undercover operation involving the Westchester district attorney's office and the Drug Enforcement Administration's Tactical Diversion Squad.

Authorities say Korn sold prescriptions after virtually no patient examination or consultation.

They say the medications he prescribed also included the attention-deficit drugs Ritalin and Adderall.

Korn faces a maximum of 15 years in prison if he is convicted of the charges against him.

Information on an attorney for Korn was not immediately available.
