Police Release New Video of Suspect in Prospect Park Rape Attempt

Police have released new surveillance video of the man suspected of trying to rape a 23-year-old woman as she went for a morning run in Prospect Park last month.

The video offers the clearest images yet of the suspect in the April 20 attack. It's not yet clear when or where the video was taken, but the suspect is seen with short hair and a goatee, wearing a black t-shirt and black pants with white lettering on one pant leg, and black sneakers with white bottoms.

Police said the suspect approached the victim from behind as she was jogging near Garfield Place and Prospect Park West at about 5 a.m. that Wednesday.

He threw her to the ground, flashed a knife and told her he was going to sexually assault her.

The woman fought off the attacker, but was sliced on her right index finger during the struggle, police said.

She then called 911 and was taken to Methodist Hospital.

The suspect fled and no arrest has been made.
