Girl Recants Sexual Assault Report Near Queens School: DOE

A 14-year-old girl who told school officials she was sexually assaulted while walking to school has since recanted her story, though police are continuing to investigate, authorities said.

According to the Department of Education, the eighth grader notified officials at her school that she was inappropriately touched by a stranger on 82nd Street and Roosevelt Avenue in Jackson Heights.

The school contacted police and the girl's parents. Police then reported that the girl recanted her story Tuesday afternoon. But officials are not yet ruling out that an assault happened.
