Port Authority to Put All Salaries Online

The board says the information should help expose any position that is overpaid

Starting on Friday the public will be able to see the name and salary of every person who works for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

The Port Authority's board said Thursday it will start posting the information online. It said the information should help expose any position that is overpaid.

The move came on the same day that the board approved a preliminary 2012 budget of $7 billion, $70 million lower than last year. It includes $2 billion for construction of the new World Trade Center.

The Port Authority recently raised bridge and tunnel tolls to help pay for construction at the trade center and other sites.

The Automobile Club of New York was in court Thursday to ask a judge to block the increases.
