Settlement Reached in NYC Prep School Sex Abuse Case

An elite Brooklyn prep school has agreed to settle a lawsuit over claims of sex abuse brought by former students.

The lawsuit claimed Poly Prep Country Day School covered up decades of sexual abuse of hundreds of boys by a star football coach.

Terms of the settlement between the school and 12 plaintiffs were not disclosed.

The original claim was filed in 2009.

The school said in a statement it hoped the settlement would bring some closure to those "who were abused by Philip Foglietta."

Foglietta came to Poly in 1966. He died in 1998.

He was accused of groping and raping boys on campus and on trips while school administrators ignored the allegations against him.
