Polls Open for Special Election in Queens, Nassau, Westchester

Voters are heading to the polls in special state Assembly elections in Queens, on Long Island and in Westchester County.

There are four seats open in the elections Tuesday.

The terms will end Dec. 31, but winners will get some of the formidable powers of incumbency in running for election in the fall, when voter turnout is traditionally much larger.

The races are for the 3rd Assembly District covering part of Suffolk County, the 15th Assembly District in Nassau County, the 24th Assembly District covering part of Queens, and the 89th Assembly District in Westchester County.

Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
