Police Rescue Stranded New Jersey Hiker, Then Help Him Find His Dog

Officials say they rescued a hiker in New Jersey who got stranded while he was searching for his lost dog.

Sparta Township Police Cpl. Joseph Antonello and Officer Steven Guido responded to reports that a man was lost behind an area golf club. NJ.com reports the officers followed the sound of the hiker's voice and found him stranded on a cliff.

The officers guided the resident to the bottom after they reached him. The resident then asked officers to help him find his dog before leaving. Antonello and Guido were able to hear the dog crying about halfway up the cliff after the resident called for the dog, according to NJ.com.

Police say the man and his dog were escorted down from the cliff safely and reunited with family.
