Police Probe Swastika Graffiti at Long Island College

Police on Long Island are investigating a spate of swastika graffiti at Nassau Community College.

The latest incident was discovered Wednesday morning at the East Garden City campus.

Police say a security officer found three swastikas drawn in black ink on a handrail and a wall.

On three other occasions in October, police say swastikas were scrawled on the walls and urinals in various men's rooms. One location also included an anti-Semitic comment.

The graffiti is the latest in what the NYPD says is an increase in reported hate crimes, up 35 percent so far this year compared to 2015.

On Tuesday, business owners in Hell's Kitchen were pasting and writing over swastikas scrawled onto phone booths on Ninth Avenue in Midtown.

Last month swastikas and President-elect Donald Trump's name were spray painted inside a Brooklyn playground.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-8--244-TIPS.
