A 63-year-old Long Island woman faces serious charges after she allegedly hit a detective with a door, then grabbed another officer's thumb and forcefully bent it back, when cops went to pick her up on a criminal contempt charge.
Officers went to Donna Cipley's Milton Avenue home in Levittown around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. When they got there, Cipley allegedly became verbally abusive and hit a detective with the door, then started wildly flailing her arms and legs and attacked the other detective's thumb. That detective suffered substantial pain and swelling.
The injured detective was taken to a hospital for treatment. Cipley was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
She faces charges of assault with intent to cause physical injury to a police officer and resisting arrest. Details of the criminal contempt case detectives were trying to take her into custody for weren't immediately clear, nor was it known if Cipley had an attorney who could comment on the allegations.
She is expected to be arraigned later Wednesday.
