Police: Man Shot Ex-Girlfriend's New Lover, Then Killed Himself

Woman found boyfriend wounded on floor

A love triangle was at the heart of a murder-suicide in Cumberland County, officials said Thursday.

Investigators said a Vineland restaurant owner fatally shot his ex-lover's new boyfriend at her farm in Upper Deerfield Township, then died minutes later inside a vehicle engulfed in flames.

Joe Martorana was shot to death shortly before 1 a.m. Tuesday.

State Police arrived at Capricorn Farm to find a car on fire with a dead man at the wheel, the body burned beyond recognition. Investigators believe the man is Ted Marcantonis.

Minutes earlier, the former girlfriend and mother of Marcantonis' daughter, called police saying she heard gunshots and found her boyfriend wounded on the floor with Ted Marcantonis in the room.

By the time troopers made the three-mile drive to the farm, the vehicle was burned down to its metal frame.
