Burglar Smashes Window of New Jersey Home, Steals Tiffany Jewelry and Baby Toys: Police

Police are looking for a man who was caught on surveillance video breaking into a New Jersey home by smashing a window with a rock.

Officials say the man entered the home in Ridgewood just before 8 p.m. Friday after he smashed the first floor window with a large rock, setting off the home’s alarm system.

The man allegedly ran up the stairs into a guest bedroom and took some Tiffany jewelry and heirloom baby toys before he fled, according to the Bergen Record

Surveillance video from the home shows the man ringing the front door and standing outside just before he broke in. Images also captured what appears to be a late model, dark-colored pickup truck with an extended cab circling the block before the burglary.

The burglary was one of six break-ins in the area over the last five days, but it was not immediately clear if they were related, police said.

Three of the victims were on vacation when they were robbed, and in most cases the suspects broke windows or forced in doors to gain entry and then quickly ransack the homes, taking cash, jewelry, and electronics.
