Officers Accused of Raping Handcuffed Woman in NYPD Van: Sources

Two NYPD officers have been accused of raping a handcuffed 18-year-old woman inside their police vehicle in a Brooklyn parking lot, a source familiar with the case told News 4.

The two officers, Eddie Martins and Richard Hall, were indicted on charges of first-degree rape and bribe receiving and are expected to surrender to authorities on Monday, according to the source.

The two men have also been suspended by the NYPD.

According to the New York Post, which first reported the indictments, the attorney for the woman said the two officers raped her and forced her to do other sexual acts in a Coney Island parking lot after she was cuffed on pot possession charges on Sept. 15.

An attorney for Hall had no comment on the allegations; Martins' attorney, Mark Bederow, told News 4 he and his client look forward to "contesting these charges in the court of law."

"A police officer is entitled to the same presumption of innocence as anyone else," Bederow said. "I strongly urge people to avoid drawing conclusions based upon the repeated and unchallenged allegations of a plaintiff’s attorney."
