Police Hunt for Suspect in Jackson Heights Rape

Police are seeking a suspect in the rape of a 35-year-old woman who was attacked while walking home from work in Queens.

Investigators released a videotape showing the suspect ducking into a walkway, donning a ski mask and waiting for the woman to pass. He then follows the woman a few blocks in the vicinity of 84th Street and 35th Avenue in the Jackson Heights neighborhood, police said.

The suspect grabbed the woman, demanded money and put a sharp object to her throat, investigators said. He pulled the woman to an alley between two houses and raped her, police said.

The suspect ran down the alley, climbed a fence leading to 83rd Street and fled.

The attack occurred at about 4:30 a.m. Wednesday.
