A sexual predator tried to attack a 12-year-old girl in her Lower East Side building but she was saved when a noise scared him away, detectives said.
Police released surveillance video of the intruder, who tricked the girl into letting him inside her building near Hester Street Monday evening about 6 p.m.
After she opened the door for him, the suspect followed the girl up to the third-floor stairwell, police said. Suddenly he heard a noise and ran away without hurting the girl, police said.
The suspect is described as a white man, about 25 to 30 years old, approximately five-feet nine inches and about 175 pounds. He was last seen wearing a blue jacket, brown pants and a grey hat.
