Officers Shot at Man Who Threatened Them With Knife: NYPD

Police fired at a suspect who allegedly menaced a sergeant with a knife early Friday in Brooklyn.

Shortly after 4 a.m., police said a sergeant and two officers in plainclothes were driving down East 19th Street between Glenwood Road and Foster Avenue in Flatbush when they saw three men stripping a vehicle.

Police stopped to arrest one of the suspects, identified as a man in his 20s.

As officers were cuffing the man, one of the suspects allegedly threatened the sergeant with a knife, police said. The sergeant fired one round and the suspects ran away.

It wasn’t clear if either of the suspects was shot. The officers were uninjured.

A knife was recovered at the scene.

Heavy police presence could be seen in the neighborhood Friday, with officers combing backyards and alleyways for the suspects.
