Missing Boater's Body Found, Pal Facing BWI Charges

Janusz Sowa, who reported the accident, is being held on $50,000 bail

Authorities say a body has been found in the water off Long Island. He is suspected of being a man who disappeared Thursday while boating with a friend.
 
That friend has been charged with boating while intoxicated.
 
Nassau County police confirmed to Newsday that an NYPD Harbor Unit found a body off East Rockaway on Friday morning.
 
Police are awaiting a positive identification. The Coast Guard says a search for the man who was missing has been called off.
 
Janusz Sowa, who reported the accident, is being held on $50,000 bail. He pleaded not guilty to BWI charges. He was represented by Legal Aid, which does not comment on pending cases.
 
The missing man has been identified as Stanislaw Nawrocki of Ridgewood, Queens.
