Police Find Drugs, Gun During Traffic Stop: NYPD

Police stopping a car for speeding in the Bronx arrested a passenger for carrying marijuana and a gun.

Three officers in plain clothes were in an unmarked police car at the corner of Story and Fteley Avenues in Soundview when they saw a speeding car turn right onto Fteley without using a turn signal and scraping the bottom of the vehicle, the NYPD said.

The officers followed the car, which contained one woman and four men, and stopped it nearby on Clason Point Lane South.

As one of the officers was talking to the driver, he could smell marijuana, according to police. Meanwhile, another officer noticed the front-seat passenger was fidgeting and adjusting his jacket. When he refused police orders to stop moving, the officers ordered all five passengers out of the car.

As the front-seat passenger, identified as 36-year-old James Glisson, got out of the car, police noticed a bulge in his pocket and discovered he was carrying a loaded .40 caliber Glock 27. They later found he was carrying three small bags of marijuana in his front left pants pocket, police said.

Glisson was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of marijuana. It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney.
