Police Dashcam Video Shows Dramatic Chase of Homicide Suspect

Police dashcam video shows the dramatic 20-minute chase of a homicide suspect that spanned 30 miles of three major highways across New York and New Jersey Monday.

The Record obtained the video showing the pursuit of David Campos, who was wanted in the killing of his ex-girlfriend in upstate Troy, New York. New York troopers began chasing Campos on the Thruway, then followed him onto the Palisades Parkway in New Jersey.

The chase never exceeded 90 mph, authorities said, though Campos' vehicle did at one point cross into oncoming northbound traffic and drive through a Sunoco gas station, passing attendants and motorists.

The vehicle re-entered northbound traffic while driving southbound and exited onto Fletcher Avenue in Fort Lee, then crossed back onto the right side of the road and got onto US Route 1&9 southbound.

Additional local agencies joined in the pursuit as it continued south on 1&9 and onto the New Jersey Turnpike. Campos was ultimately stopped in traffic at the 16W Toll Plaza in Secaucus and taken into custody. Multiple charges and extradition are pending, authorities say.

It wasn't immediately clear if Campos had an attorney. He remains in Bergen County Jail on a variety of charges.
