Plenty Of Cheap Yankee Tickets Available This Week

Nationals aren't generating many sales

Haven't been out to the new Yankee Stadium yet because you don't feel like mortgaging your house for a baseball ticket? You're in luck this week and have the once-in-a-lifetime awfulness of the Washington Nationals to thank.

The Nats, whose 16-45 record is equal to the 1962 Mets through this point in the season, are in the Bronx for three games, and TicketsNow has plenty of seats available for as little as $17 for a Grandstand ticket. Those seats normally go for $23. An email blast from Travelzoo.com made us aware of the deals, and there were even cheaper seats on the market that have already been snapped up.

TicketsNow is a subsidiary of Ticketmaster designed to battle StubHub in the ticket resale marketplace. The sudden glut of tickets, the awareness of a travel website with a big audience and the curiously regimented pricing of seats in the same sections make you think there's more to this than season ticket holders simply cutting their losses and trying to get back what they can against a bad opponent.

It seems more likely that Ticketmaster is the party trying to get their money back, but that shouldn't matter. Snap up those tickets and see the Yankees take on a team that somewhat resembles a major league squad!
