Plane That Crashed into Atlantic Ocean Recovered

Officials say the single-engine plane that crashed into the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of New Jersey last week has been recovered.

John Ryan, owner of TowboatUS, tells The Press of Atlantic City his company pulled the plane from the water around 8 p.m. Saturday.

Ryan says a body was found inside the Mooney M20 aircraft. Federal officials examined the plane at Ryan's salvage yard Sunday.

Federal Aviation Administration officials say 68-year-old pilot Michael Moir departed for a flight to Atlantic City from Gaylord, Michigan around noon Thursday.

Moir's aircraft held a steady course for the southern New Jersey city before making a steep descent over the ocean.

Officials say Moir hadn't made radio contact with air traffic control for about two hours prior to the crash.
