A small seaplane conducted a sudden landing the Hudson River in Rockland County, officials said.
Police from Piermont and Orangetown confirmed a seaplane landed into the river Tuesday evening around 6 p.m. about 20 miles north of New York City.
Visibility in the area was very poor due to heavy fog, and the pilot landed the aircraft in the water as a precautionary measure. After landing, the battery of the plane died so the pilot requested to be towed in.
The pilot was the only person aboard the aircraft, he was uninjured.
Officials were working on getting the plane out of the water Tuesday evening.
