Trio Pickpocketed Elderly, Went on Shopping Sprees at Target Stores: Police

A trio of alleged pickpocketers have been arrested in a four-month investigation in a Westchester community where elderly shoppers were targeted while shopping, authorities say.

Greenburgh police said they had been investigating a series of thefts targeting elderly shoppers in which one of the suspects would distract the victim while the others would take the purse from either the victim's shopping carts or their body.

The suspects would then ring up purchases on the victim's credit cards, primarily at Target stores in New Rochelle, Mamaroneck and Port Chester, police said.

Dawn Boykin, 56, of the Bronx has been charged with six counts of fourth-degree grand larceny and fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. The other two women, one who shares the same Bronx address as Boykin and another who lives in Westbury, were each charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, police said.

Attorney information for Boykin wasn't immediately clear.
