A physical education teacher has been accused of beating and raping a female bartender inside a Long Island tavern.
Michael Wachholder was arrested Wednesday on rape, aggravated sexual abuse and assault charges. The 30-year-old teacher in the Three Village Central School District is scheduled for arraignment Thursday.
No telephone number could be found for his Rocky Point home, and authorities were unsure whether he had a lawyer. The school district superintendent did not immediately return a telephone call Wednesday evening.
Suffolk County police have said two men assaulted the bartender while she was alone in the Mount Sinai tavern shortly after it opened Feb. 3. Police say they have no immediate information on the second man.
