Phony Cop Arrested After Pulling Driver Over on Long Island: Police

Authorities say a man is facing criminal impersonation charges for pretending to be a police officer and pulling a driver over.

Nassau County police say they were called by that driver, who said he had been pulled over by a man in a truck with a flashing red and blue light on his dashboard around 4:15 Saturday in Carle Place.

The driver told police the man approached with a gold and blue police shield and a black-colored handgun and demanded the driver exit his car. The driver instead fled and called authorities.

Police say they located the man, Anthony Scott, 37, a short time later and arrested him. A fake police shield was recovered, but a gun was not.
