Fake Grandkids Scamming Residents for Bail Money in NY Town: Police

Authorities in a New York town are warning people about a phone scam in which someone calls purporting to be the resident's grandchild and asks for money to get bailed out of jail.

Police say at least three Ramapo residents have been victimized in the last week.

In each case, the caller asks for bail money to be sent right away via MoneyGram. It's not clear how much money the victims sent.

Anyone who feels he or she may have been victimized is asked to call Ramapo Police at (845) 357-2400.
