38 Arrested, Dozens Fined at Phish Madison Square Garden Concert: NYPD

New York City police say 38 people were arrested and 85 were given summonses for drugs and other offenses at the first of four planned Phish concerts at Madison Square Garden.

The jam band played Saturday night, the first gig of a four-night stint.

Police say all but six of the people arrested faced misdemeanor charges. Nearly two dozen were given summonses for marijuana offenses. Sixty-one were cited for having open containers of alcohol.

Arrest statistics for Sunday night's performance weren't immediately available. The band finishes up with a New Year's Eve performance.

Last month, New Jersey police arrested 42 people during Phish shows at Atlantic City's Boardwalk Hall.
