Tire Comes Off Trailer, Hits Woman in New Jersey: Cops

A pedestrian was hit by a a tire that came off of a car carrier or equipment trailer Thursday afternoon, authorities say.

The woman was walking at North Franklin Turnpike and Spring Street in the Bergen County community of Ramsey at about 12:30 when she was  hit by the tire, police say.

Police say that the tire had gotten separated from either a car carrier or an equipment trailer, then rolled across two lanes of traffic and into the parking lot where the woman was. 

The truck didn't stay at the scene, but police say they're not investigating the case as a crime.

The woman had minor injuries and appears to be dazed by the incident, witnesses said.
