Students Treated After Pepper Spray Released at High School of Fashion Industries

FDNY said three or four students were treated at the scene

Several students had to be treated by paramedics after pepper spray was released at a Manhattan high school, the FDNY said.

The Department of Education said three students from the High School of Fashion Industries on 24th Street were taken to Bellevue Hospital Wednesday afternoon.

The DOE said said the students complained of eye irritation and difficulty breathing after stepping into a school elevator, where someone had sprayed something.

It was not immediately clear why the substance was sprayed.

The DOE said officials were investigating and disciplinary action was pending.
