Authorities are looking for the driver who hit two women on a busy road near the Long Island Expressway in Queens Thursday evening, killing one of them.
Police say a black Porsche was speeding westbound on the Horace Harding Expressway in Rego Park when the driver lost control near Junction Boulevard, jumping a sidewalk and hitting a tree before hitting a 21-year-old woman walking on the sidewalk and a 26-year-old woman riding a bike.
The Porsche then careened across the other side of the road, where it collided with a Mini Cooper and a Toyota Camry waiting at a stoplight, police said.
The women hit by the Porsche and the two drivers hit in the crash were all taken to Elmhurst Hospital. The 21-year-old pedestrian died there, police said.
The bicyclist was being treated for head and shoulder injuries, and the drivers were treated and released for minor injuries.
Witness Isatou Harding said, "We just heard a boom, like a car flying, and I just have to wonder, 'Oh my God, what's going on?,' then everybody's shouting."
Harding said it appeared the Porsche driver was trying to beat the light just as the killed woman was about to cross the street.

The driver of the Porsche, Irene Lee, ran from the crash afterward. The 56-year-old woman was later arrested on a charge of leaving the scene of an accident involving death.
Attorney information for the woman wasn't immediately available.
