12 Hurt in Brooklyn After Car Jumps Curb, Crashes into Scaffolding

A 2-year-old and his mother were fighting for their lives after a car jumped the curb in Brooklyn Saturday evening, officials said.

Twelve pedestrians in total were injured when at around 6:50 p.m. a Lincoln sedan crashed through a bus stop at the corner of Utica and Church avenues in East Flatbush, then hit a sidewalk shed, causing it to collapse, authorities said.

Four of the injured were in critical condition, including the 2-year-old boy and his mother.

A woman was driving the car with a male passenger, police said. They were both transported to Kings County Hospital with neck and back injuries.

A Fire Department spokesman said the four in critical condition and three others were taken to Kings County Hospital. Five people with serious but non-life threatening injuries were transported to Brookdale University Hospital.

Police said an investigation into the crash is ongoing.
