A U-Haul truck driver sideswiped a vehicle in the Bronx Friday morning and fled the scene, striking a 17-year-old crossing the street and hitting a parked car that was then pushed up over a curb and through the storefront of a beauty salon, authorities say.
The teenager was taken to the hospital in critical condition after the wreck around 8:30 a.m. Friday; authorities said he did not have the green light when he was crossing the street.
The 36-year-old U-Haul truck driver was arrested at the scene on Southern Boulevard in Longwood and charges are pending.
Chopper 4 showed the smashed U-Haul truck and the parked car it hit up on the sidewalk, with the crumpled front of the parked car poking through the beauty salon storefront.
No injuries were reported.
