Speeding Car Jumps Curb, Kills Pedestrian in Brooklyn: Cops

The driver was charged with reckless endangerment, criminally negligent homicide and reckless driving

A man was killed in Brooklyn early Thursday when an out-of-control car jumped the curb and struck him, police said.

The driver, Jean Bigord, 53, of Lenox Road in Brooklyn, was arrested and charged with criminally negligent homicide, reckless endangerment and reckless driving, police said.

Bigord was allegedly speeding around 3 a.m. Thursday when he crossed a double yellow line to pass another vehicle and lost control of his car, police said. He then struck a parked vehicle and continued westbound on Sterling Street, near Bedford Avenue in Crown Heights, where he jumped the curb and struck a pedestrian, police said.

The victim was taken to Kings County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His name was not released.
