A woman walking her dog near her Long Island home casually chatted with a passerby, who later entered her residence with an accomplice and robbed her, police said Friday.

The 61-year-old woman was approached by a man at about 8 p.m. Thursday outside her Garden City Park home. The man struck up a conversation about her dog.

After their casual chat, she entered her home on Hillside Drive South headed for a side door to lock it. Meanwhile, the men entered her residence, grabbed her and threw her onto a bedroom floor, Nassau County police said.

The woman told police that the man threatened to kill her if she turned around an looked at him and his partner.

The second man had entered through a rear door and both searched the house and made off with an undisclosed amount of money they found in an upstairs closet, police said.

When the woman heard no noise in the house, she decided the thieves had left and called the police. She was uninjured and described the suspects for a police sketch artist.

Anyone with information about the suspects is asked to call the local Crime Stoppers Hotline as 1-800-244-TIPS.
