Authorities have charged Shaun Lewis, the man who allegedly beat a teen girl last week in the Bronx, for a separate robbery and assault that took place in April 2016.
The 27-year-old parolee was charged with robbery and criminal possession of property on Sunday for the April incident, which officials learned about while he was in custody, police said. He also faces a host of other charges, including attempted rape and strangulation, in relation to last week's assault on the Bronx teen.
Lewis allegedly approached a 33-year-old woman at knifepoint and demanded her cellphone in front of 2944 Wickham Ave. on April 21 in the Bronx, police said.
Last Monday, Lewis allegedly walked with a 15-year-old girl from the Gun Hill Road 2 train station to an area near the Bronx River at about 4 a.m. before he beat her and dragged her to a nearby park, where police said she may have been sexually assaulted.
Lewis was expected to be arraigned for both incidents on Sunday evening, although it was unclear Monday if an arraignment had taken place. It's not clear if he has a lawyer who would comment on the charges.
Lewis has a criminal history dating back to 2009, when he was convicted of robbery in the first degree and sentenced to five years in jail. He was released in 2014, and is currently under five years of post-release supervision.
