A Manhattan parking garage worker died after an SUV rolled off a lift and fell 6 feet onto him, FDNY authorities and a law enforcement official tell NBC 4 New York.
It wasn't immediately clear why the vehicle slipped off the lift early Monday.
Cliff Salvador, a New Jersey resident who has been parking his car at the garage near Barclay and Church streets for the last four years, said he knew the victim and was in shock over his death. He described him as the "nicest guy in the world."
The victim's identity has not been released.
The investigation is ongoing.
