Women Thrown to Ground, Groped on NJ Streets: Prosecutors

Authorities are investigating two sexual ambushes in a span of several days in which two women were attacked from behind by a man in New Jersey.

Prosecutors say the first attack in Palisades Park was reported to police Thursday. In that case, a woman said she was followed from Broad Avenue to Second Street around 10:25 p.m. by a short man with a medium build. The man knocked her to the ground from behind and sexually assaulted her with his hands, according to prosecutors, before running off.

On Sunday, another woman in Palisades Park told police she was attacked several days earlier by a man with a description similar to the suspect in the first attack.

The woman said she had been walking north on Broad Avenue, then west on West Edsall Avenue, around 9:10 p.m. when she was attacked from behind.

The suspect knocked the victim to the ground and attacked the woman in the same manner as the victim in Thursday's police report described, prosecutors said.

Neither victim was seriously hurt.

Authorities have released a sketch of the suspect (above).
