Oxycodone Thief Dressed for Winter Threatens to Kill Woman With Crowbar in New Jersey Pharmacy: Cops

A crowbar-toting man wearing heavy layers and a reflective vest, with a scarf covering his face, entered a New Jersey drugstore and held a woman hostage in exchange for oxycodone, police said.

The man entered the CVS along Center Square Road shortly after 11 p.m. Friday and grabbed a female customer hostage, threatening to “kill” or “shoot” her unless the pharmacy technician gave him all the Oxycodone in the store, according to Woolwich Township Police.

The pharmacist complied and handed over drugs, but the thief wanted more, police said. He tried to grab the hostage’s car keys but failed to do so – eventually fleeing on foot. Police K-9s were unable to track him down.

No one in the store was injured.

Investigators believe this is the same man who robbed a Haddonfield Rite Aid and carjacked a priest last week. He may also be connected to another Rite Aid robbery in Gloucester County. In both cases, the thief wore a construction vest and in one carried a traffic cone into the store.
