A large dump truck overturned on Long Island Expressway Wednesday in Nassau County, causing a massive traffic jam.
The driver was taken to a local hospital, police said. Information about the extent of the driver's injuries wasn't available.
The accident occurred at about 1:30 p.m. near the exits for Lakeview Road and Community Drive in the Lake Success area.
The truck spilled its load into the eastbound lanes. Only two eastbound lanes were open to traffic, authorities said.
Residual delays stretched into the afternoon rush. Westbound delays backed up to Route 106, while eastbound logjams went back to the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway in New York City.
The cause of the accident was still being determined.
