Photos Released of Getaway Car in Oheka Castle Shooting

Police have released images of an SUV they believe was used by the person who shot Oheka Castle owner Gary Melius in the head as he walked to his car on the grounds of the Long Island castle earlier this year.

Melius, 69, was shot Feb. 24 in the courtyard of the Huntington wedding venue. The shooter fled the scene in an older model, light four-door Jeep Grand Cherokee; police released photos of the car Thursday.

A month after the shooting, Melius told NBC 4 New York he was recovering well and that he was looking forward to starting over.

Suffolk police continue to hunt the attacker and are examining Melius’ business, political and personal connections for possible leads.

The police department has refused to comment publicly about the progress of the investigation.

Authorities are offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the shooter's arrest. Anyone with information about the getaway car of the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 220-TIPS.
