Two New Jersey Officers Face DWI Charges, Possible Suspensions

The charges stem from a Sept. 3 accident when the vehicles the officers were in left the roadway and struck a church

Two southern New Jersey police officers face possible suspensions after being charged with drunken driving, according to reports.

The charges stem from a Sept. 3 accident when the Millville officers' vehicle struck a church, according to The Press of Atlantic City.

Authorities say the officers, Michael McLaughlin and Charles Twigg, were off duty at the time. McLaughlin was driving the car, which was owned by Twigg. Both officers were thrown from the vehicle after it hit the church.

McLaughlin was treated at a hospital, while Twigg declined medical assistance. Twigg has returned to work, while McLaughlin is still recovering from his injuries.
