Off-Duty Cop Injured in Hit-and-Run Crash in Queens: NYPD

An off-duty NYPD officer was hit by a car while he was crossing the street Wednesday night in Queens, according to officials.

The unidentified officer was crossing the road at Cooper Avenue and 80th Street in Middle Village around 9:30 p.m. when a car ran a red light, hit the officer and then took off, the FDNY said.

The office was taken to Jamaica Hospital in serious condition with injuries to the head. Police say he is conscious and alert.

Police are looking for the driver who fled the scene.
