Notorious B.U.S.: Famed Transit Thief Strikes Again

A man infamous in New York for posing as a transit worker on dozens of occasions has been arrested again on charges he stole a coach bus.

Police say 45-year-old Darius McCollum was arrested Tuesday morning in Queens on charges of grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property. He was awaiting arraignment and information on his lawyer was not immediately available.

The empty New York Trailways bus was reported stolen Tuesday morning, taken from a maintenance facility in Hoboken, N.J.

McCollum has been arrested at least 23 other times and served jail time for posing as a transit worker. Over the years, he has donned MTA uniforms and cheerfully collected fares, cleared trash from tracks, and put out underground fires.

He became a New York sensation when he commandeered a subway at age 15.
